Sarah Gold is a true local to the Capital District of New York, having grown up in Guilderland, and attending Schenectady County Community College, University of Albany, and Albany Law School. She had been a paralegal and legal secretary prior to going to law school, and was admitted as an attorney in New York in 2007.
While in law school, she interned at the Federal Court in Albany for The Honorable Thomas J. McAvoy, allowing her the opportunity to see how the federal system worked as well as researching and drafting motions, decisions, and orders in the areas of criminal procedure, constitutional law, and employment discrimination.
After passing the Bar, she was an associate at a local law firm, where she worked extensively in the hedge fund industry, negotiating and drafting contractual agreements for the purchase and sale of loans, securities and claims of companies undergoing or emerging from financial restructuring or in bankruptcy.
She is extensively involved with the New York State Bar Association, having joined while a student at Albany Law School. She is currently the Chair of the Young Lawyers Section, Secretary for the Business Law Section, and a member of the Committee on Women in Law, Electronic Communications Committee, and the Law, Youth, and Citizenship Committee. Among some of her projects she has helped to chair a pilot mentorship program with Cardozo Law School, co-chaired a 2-day CLE seminar for newly admitted attorneys in New York City, and has helped to coordinate 13 district representative programs for the Young Lawyers Section. She also chaired the 2014 New York State Bar Association's Young Lawyers Section Trial Academy.
Locally, she is Chair of the Small and Solo Committee for the Albany County Bar Association, Chair of the Technology/Website Committee for the Capital District Women's Bar Association and a committee member of the Mac N’ Cheese Bowl for the Regional Food Bank. She has lectured before the Albany Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce, Albany Law School, New York State Bar Association, and Capital District Women's Bar Association. She is also an Adjunct Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, teaching Business Law. She was named a Upstate New York Super Lawyers Rising Star in both 2013 and 2014.
